Houghton Mifflin Launches Learning Technology Division

BOSTON — March 12, 2007 — Houghton Mifflin Company today announced the launch of a new division, Houghton Mifflin Learning Technology. Responding to customer demand for a seamless, comprehensive print and technology-based learning solution, Houghton Mifflin Learning Technology becomes the industry's premier provider of integrated learning tools.

Formed shortly after the merger of Houghton Mifflin and Riverdeep, the new division will develop and deliver highly engaging, interactive pre-K–12 solutions that inspire innovation and raise student achievement. With a rich portfolio of curriculum-based technology products and services in all subject areas, Houghton Mifflin Learning Technology provides a powerful, research-proven approach for integrating core and supplemental instruction, intervention, assessment and reporting, professional development, and school-to-home connections. Featured products include Destination Reading , Destination Math, Earobics, SkillsTutor, Larson Learning, and Learning Village, as well as the Edmark House Series and other supplemental technology titles such as Reader Rabbit, Oregon Trail, and Carmen Sandiego that are sold into the education market.

The Company has named Scott Kirkpatrick president of Houghton Mifflin Learning Technology. Previously, Kirkpatrick was vice president of Operations Strategy for Houghton Mifflin.
