McDougal Littell and Kinetic Books Join Together to Boost High School
Students' Achievement in Physics
ST. LOUIS — March 28, 2007— McDougal Littell, a division of Houghton
Mifflin Company, and Kinetic Books today announced a groundbreaking
partnership to help high school students better learn physics. McDougal
Littell will exclusively offer Kinetic Books' Conceptual Physics
digital textbook and virtual physics labs in its product line, and develop a
print version of the textbook with supplemental materials to create a
comprehensive educational solution.
"Research confirms that students learn more when they're engaged in the
subject," said Susan Schaffrath, editor in chief, McDougal Littell. "As a
Company, we are committed to providing highly effective educational materials
that steer student success. With Conceptual Physics, every learner is
an active learner. All students, whatever their interests or capabilities, can
learn the fundamentals of physics. McDougal Littell and Kinetic Books together
are taking a great step forward for the teaching of high school physics."
We are flattered that such an esteemed publishing company as McDougal Littell
is seeing the advantage of our truly interactive textbook," said Bruce
Jacobsen, CEO and founder, Kinetic Books. "The agreement with McDougal Littell
is a huge achievement, and—alongside our 100 percent success rate in state
adoptions and recent addition to the College Board's Advanced Placement®
program list—further supports our dedication to provide students with quality
interactive textbooks that meet curriculum standards. We appreciate the value
of McDougal Littell in developing the print version of Conceptual Physics
as well as their ability to develop further supplementary material."
The complete Conceptual Physics program—which includes digital and
print textbooks and virtual physics labs—will be available for implementation
during the 2007–2008 school year.
