BOSTON — June 21, 2006 — Houghton Mifflin Company and the Association
of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) announced the creation of
a new scholarship to recognize educational leadership and support the

education to become a school superintendent.
"The Latino population is the largest and fastest growing minority population
in the United States, and we need to continue to promote opportunities for
Latino administrators," said Tony Lucki, president and CEO of Houghton Mifflin
Company. "This scholarship underscores Houghton Mifflin's commitment to
supporting the advancement of our schools' most promising educational leaders."
