Riverside Publishing Announces Online Version of the Gates-MacGinitie
Reading Tests
Tests Offer Educators a More Convenient Method to Measure Critical Reading
Skills
ITASCA, Ill. — October 5, 2006 — Riverside Publishing, a division of
Houghton Mifflin Company and leader in comprehensive educational
standards-based assessment, today announced the online version of the Gates-MacGinitie
Reading Tests (GMRT®), Fourth Edition, which offers
educators the option to administer the popular tests via the Internet.
GMRT is a powerful assessment educators use to help determine their
students' level of reading achievement. GMRT is developmentally
appropriate for all learners and well suited to the Reading First and
Striving Readers programs. The objective information obtained from the
tests can be used in a variety of ways: reporting student progress to parents,
teachers and the community; evaluating the effectiveness of instructional
programs; and selecting students for individual diagnosis and special
instruction.
"With GMRT online, educators will receive the same great features
that have made the GMRT paper-pencil version a classroom favorite,"
said Lee Jones, president, Riverside Publishing. "GMRT online
offers the same reliability of the paper-pencil version with the flexibility
and convenience of online testing. The online version of the GMRT will
give educators instant access to their students' test results with a dynamic,
Web-based reporting tool."
Both the online and paper-pencil versions of the GMRT are now
available. For more information on the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Tests,
