Education Place® Announces Eighth Annual Summer Contests
Houghton Mifflin's K-8 Website Hosts Summer Activities for Teachers and Students
BOSTON, Mass. - June 2, 2003 - Houghton Mifflin Company's School Division today announced the annual summer contests on its K-8 website, Education Place.
Back by popular demand are three summer contests hosted by Education Place. The KidViews contest for students in grades 1-8 challenges students to read and review books, helping to promote independent reading during the summer. The Brain Teasers contest for students in grades 3-8 helps students sharpen their problem-solving skills by solving a weekly word problem. The TeacherViews contest allows educators to share their original activities for favorite classroom books.
Due to the overwhelming response last year from students and teachers as far away as Singapore and Australia, all contests will run for eight weeks, beginning on June 25; winners will be announced on August 20, 2003.
Five winners will be chosen for the KidViews contest, twelve winners for the Brain Teasers contest, and three winners for the TeacherViews contest. Prize packages include a variety of popular books from the Houghton Mifflin Trade and Reference Division.
