Education Place® Announces Ninth Annual Summer Contests

Houghton Mifflin's K-8 Web site hosts contests for students and teachers

BOSTON, Mass. - June 4, 2004 - Houghton Mifflin School Division today announced its ninth annual summer contests for students and teachers. The three contests, KidViews, Brain Teasers, and TeacherViews begin June 23, and are hosted on the School Division Web site, www.educationplace.com.

KidsViews encourages independent summer reading by challenging students entering grades 1-8 to read and review books. Brain Teasers helps students entering grades 3-8 to build their problem-solving skills by completing a weekly word problem. Both contests run until August 10. Six winners from each contest will receive backpacks filled with school supplies and books from Houghton Mifflin Trade and Reference Division.

TeacherViews invites educators to share their original activities on how to incorporate children's books into the classroom. Winners of the contest will be chosen from those who submit the most TeacherViews entries between June 23 and August 18. Three winners will receive books from Houghton Mifflin's Great SourceŽ Education Group and Trade and Reference Division.
