Riverside
Publishing offers a wide range of highly regarded clinical, state,
formative, educational, and group assessment products. As a charter member of
the Association of Test Publishers, Riverside serves both the K–12 educational
market and the clinical assessment market with print, CD-ROM, and online
assessment tools.
With the national focus on standards and assessment in today's classrooms,
Riverside Publishing often works with school districts and state education
departments to provide solutions that allow educators to better understand the
progress of their students. Riverside's The
Iowa Tests® are based on seventy years of ongoing research
at the University of Iowa, and are used for local assessment or state testing
programs in virtually every state.
In the clinical assessment market, Riverside publishes a variety of tools that
allow clinicians and specialists to measure such things as general
intellectual ability, specific cognitive abilities, scholastic aptitude, and
oral language development. Houghton Mifflin has worked closely with many
eminent authors in the assessment field, beginning with the publication of the Stanford-Binet
Intelligence Scales during World War I.
The Riverside Publishing Company was established as a wholly owned subsidiary
of Houghton Mifflin in 1979.
