Riverside Publishing
creates highly regarded educational testing products in print, CD-ROM, and
online formats.
In the group-administered assessment market, the Iowa
Tests of Basic Skills® and the Iowa
Tests of Educational Development® provide valuable
information about student progress and classroom achievement. These
time-tested, rigorously-researched norm-referenced tests are an excellent
measure of academic growth in grades K–12, offer three parallel test forms,
and provide a host of flexible reporting options.
In addition to norm-referenced tests like The Iowa Tests®,
Riverside also develops custom, criterion-referenced tests that are tied to
specific standards and used to measure students' attainment of state- or
district-developed content objectives. Riverside provides instructional tools
to help teachers assess concepts that cannot be readily measured by
traditional large-scale assessments. While many of these tests are developed
under contracts with state departments of education for large-scale programs,
Riverside has also developed tests for national or targeted state-level use.
With new norms and online administration and reporting options, the Gates-MacGinitie
Reading Tests (GMRT) are an even more powerful tool. GMRT
uses scientific research to provide valid, reliable, and norm-referenced data
about reading achievement.
The Diagnostic
Assessments of Reading (DAR), Second Edition, assess the five critical
components of reading and provide an in-depth analysis of reading proficiency.
Coupled with the Trial
Teaching Strategies, DAR offers educators helpful tips and
strategies for remediation based on students' strengths and weaknesses.
